Barrier treatment[ ]
ISYTECH has developed a microwave plasma technology well adapted to the treatment of packaging such as bottles, cans ... This technology allows the deposition of thin films of few tens of nanometers on the internal surface of packaging, for improving their barrier properties against the diffusion of gas or liquid or plastics components (aldehydes…).
This method is particularly well suited for PET and HDPE packaging. However, other types of materials could be considered.
ADVANTAGES
Industrial in-line technology
Adaptable for various package capacities
Excellent long time barrier performances
Easy process adaptation among barrier effect requested.
Recyclability of treated package.
Environment friendly technology.
PERFORMANCES
Production rate : from 1,5 to 4 millions packages/year.
Package from few centiliters up than 20 liter.
Package polymer : mainly PEHD, PET others…
- Typically barrier level gains on PEHD Package (5 liter).
Fuel SP95 : 50
White spirit : 50
n butyl acetate : 20
agrochemicals liquid : 50
- Typically barrier level gains on P.E.T package :
Oxygen : 30
CO2 : 7
The plasma treatment prevents the sorption of aromatic compounds. Example with orange juice in PET bottles. PET1 : standard monolayer PET PET2 : multilayers (Bindox) PET3 : PET with plasma treatment
